AMF-Bruns implements customer project according to special requirements

It all began with an intensive planning phase in which our team from the Sugar Business Unit worked closely with the customer to understand their specific requirements and expectations. The starting signal was then given for an extremely interesting project, which we report on in this article!

Efficient production with sieving

This project involves a unique conveying system for the sugar industry: a mixture of sugar beet pulp and juice is to be pumped directly into the AMF-Bruns screw conveyor at a rate of 460m³/h from a pulp mash.

The challenge was that the pulp juice had to be removed from the product flow without the pulp being pressed out: Only around 10 percent of the liquid was allowed to enter the extraction system.

To meet this customer requirement, we developed and installed a special dewatering box with sieve surfaces. The screens are designed to prevent clogging by the conveyed material. We have had excellent experience with screens of this type in the past and have already installed them in several screw conveyor systems.

Easy maintenance – effortless cleaning

To make maintenance of the dewatering boxes as easy as possible, they have been fitted with inspection flaps. In addition, the lower part of the screen box can be removed to allow free access to the screens. This means that the screens can be easily removed, cleaned and inspected after the campaign.

Additional complexity

But that wasn’t all: as the screw conveyor rises by 20 degrees, our engineering team also had to analyze the shaft bearings in more detail. In the end, a bearing unit developed by AMF-Bruns was used, which absorbs the axial forces and ensures stable operation.

All in all, AMF-Bruns was also able to provide a well thought-out and efficient solution for this project, which completely satisfied our customer.
