News from SWISS KRONO

Green Energy project goes live

Scope of delivery and services

Delivery of the electrics and automation, mechanical installation, electrical commissioning in collaboration with an external partner, testing of all sensors and motors and preparation of the control components.

Location

The new conveyor technology was installed at the French site in Sully-sur-Loire.

Another successful step forward: Following the mechanical installation, our team has now also mastered the electrical commissioning of our green energy project for the SWISS KRONO Group, which produces high-quality wood-based materials and flooring, with flying colors.

Commissioning in a double pack

As AMF-Bruns had also supplied the electrics and automation for this order, the machines also had to be electrically commissioned after the mechanical installation. This was carried out in close cooperation with an external partner. The first step was to check all the sensors, test the motors and prepare the control components for use.

Once this preparation was complete, we were able to “turn” the machines for the first time – this is known as cold commissioning. This involved checking that the machines were running properly from a mechanical point of view. In December 2023, we were then able to put the new strander into operation and the first strands were transported by the machines. After this highlight, it was time for the finishing touches: in the weeks that followed, small errors were continuously rectified and adjustments made.

Safety comes first

Collaboration with the companies involved also went smoothly: every morning, the work planned for the day was discussed together. Safety was the top priority. In addition to AMF-Bruns, the international team also included suppliers from Canada, Italy, Austria and the French managers from SWISS KRONO at the Sully-sur-Loire site.

Our experienced colleagues Hermann Martens and project manager Christian Lanvermann, as well as our foremen Nils Bregen and Andreas Langlitz, accompanied the commissioning. They worked almost continuously on the construction site for around three months.

Premiere for the new wet chip bunker

A particularly exciting challenge was the commissioning of the first two new patented wet chip bunkers with a shuttle belt system: first, we tested the system’s scheduled function and ensured the interaction of all components at a low filling height. Next on the agenda was the discharge of the bunker into the downstream dryer – initially without drying. After this machine had also passed its first tests, we were now able to carry out the drying tests. Once the required degree of drying had been achieved, the material was finally fed into production – a successful premiere for our new wet chipboard bunker!
